Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
2015 Delegation, Entry #6: 9/17/15
“Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see? I see a red bird looking at me.”
Susan showcased methods of using big books in teaching with a lively reading of Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? As soon as the teachers caught on to the rhythmic pattern, they enthusiastically joined in and chanted the words along with her. We brought 52 big books that will be distributed among the schools.
Later on in the day Renata shared from her Special Education background some methods of working with students who have learning and physical disabilities. She emphasized the importance of having an “Individualized Education Plan” that is specially tailored for each student with a disability. A student’s IEP details the accommodations and modifications needed to facilitate their learning. She spoke one on one with several teachers about the issues their students are facing and collaborated with them to come up with some of the content that could be included in each IEP.
